Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support center operations by determining donor eligibility and ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Licensed or certified as RN, NP, or PA in the state of assignment.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Successful completion of BioLife FDA-approved training for Medical Support Specialist.
• Minimum two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies; arrange donor transport when needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for any unacceptable findings or guidance.
• Support vaccination programs for employees (Hepatitis B, Seasonal Flu).
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate evaluation by occupational health or emergency response as required.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats.
• Provide center-level support of environmental, health and safety and assist with regulatory compliance.

Position Summary

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing adverse events, reviewing laboratory results, and ensuring compliance with EHS and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE) results.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate evaluation by occupational health or emergency response as required.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community.
• Provide center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS) and assist with regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified in the state of assignment as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Successful completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Location and Compensation

Fairview Heights, IL, USA.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $33.44 - $45.98 (actual wage may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, or location).
