Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support donor eligibility, medical review, and adherence to regulatory SOPs at the Tyler, TX center.

The role reports to the Center Manager and collaborates with the Center Physician and Medical Affairs, ensuring donor safety, vaccination programs, and EHS compliance. Requires nursing licensure and 2 years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate of a recognized nursing program.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) licensure required in the state of responsibilities.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements.
• Perform physical examinations and review serological data.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for any unacceptable findings or medical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER and EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program

LPN or LVN licensure

CPR and AED certification

Basic IV therapy eligibility

FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training

Clinical or hospital experience (2 years)
