Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations in Houston. You determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of test results under physician guidance.

The role requires LPN/LVN licensure, CPR/AED certification, and two years of clinical experience, with responsibilities spanning compliance and donor safety in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; nursing program graduate to state requirements.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history, and acceptance requirements.
• Perform physical examinations, blood testing, and review of SPE results.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs.
• Refer to Center Physician/Medical Affairs for uncertain medical or technical issues.
