Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Lemon Grove, CA is hiring a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse). You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review lab results, and support medical and operational needs under Center Manager and Center Physician guidance.

Requirements include an RN/NP/PA license or equivalent, CPR/AED, basic IV therapy knowledge, and FDA training for BioLife MSS, plus two years of clinical/hospital experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: RN, NP or PA.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; include informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical issues, safety, and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and escalate if needed per EHS guidance.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent including nursing program

IV therapy basic state requirements

FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training

Two years clinical/hospital experience
