Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Lafayette, LA is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable results, under physician guidance.

The role requires an active LPN or LVN license, CPR and AED certifications, basic IV therapy qualification, and at least two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state: LPN or LVN.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and coordinate with Center Physician for medical guidance.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health evaluation.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.
