Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Lafayette, LA seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review laboratory results, and notify donors of unsuitable results under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance.

Requirements include an RN/NP/PA license in the state, CPR/AED certification, and at least two years in a clinical or hospital setting; FDA-approved BioLife training is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized nursing program as required by state.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state (RN, NP, or PA).
• CPR and AED certification required.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and arrange medical emergencies with Center Physician standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS as needed.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
