Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations, determine donor eligibility, review lab results, and manage donor safety under physician guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN
• Current CPR and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
• FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs, including donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and medical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents with EHS guidance and contribute to investigations as needed.
