Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN
• Current CPR and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
• Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies and center physician standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical guidance.
• Support hepatitis B and flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents with EHS guidance and reporting.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
