Job summary

Airgas in Charlestown, NH is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to lead gas filling operations, oversee cylinder processing, ultrasonic testing, and ensure FDA/DOT/OSHA/EPA compliance. The role collaborates with plant supervisors, mentors two or more staff, and drives safety, productivity, and quality improvements while planning capital investments.

A minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing leadership role and strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills are required; SAP experience

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years in a leadership role in manufacturing/distribution.
• Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and metrics-driven approach to production.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Mathematical ability with units, rates and percentages.
• Self-starter, well organized, and able to work independently or in a team.
• Detail oriented; capable of neat handwritten compliance documentation.
• Commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Must frequently use computer and telephone; able to lift up to 60 lbs and move up to 125 lbs with aids.

Responsibilities

• Supervise two or more associates in plant, QA lab, and/or drivers.
• Coordinate with other Plant Supervisors for daily operations.
• Promote safety and compliance culture; correct unsafe acts promptly.
• Assign tasks based on customer needs, stock, and worker skills.
• Review production schedules; maintain time and production records.
• Interpret policies and enforce safety regulations.
• Suggest and implement improvements to methods and equipment for efficiency.
• Troubleshoot work problems and assist staff as needed.
• Recommend actions such as hires, promotions, transfers, or disciplinary steps.
• Train and cross-train staff to cover for shortages; assist with capital investments.
• Manage inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
