Job summary

Airgas, Inc. in Cambridge, MD is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to lead daily operations, mentor staff, and uphold safety, health, and environmental standards at our Calgaz facility.

The role focuses on supporting site leadership, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring regulatory compliance while fostering an inclusive team culture and strong employee relations. Candidates should have 3–5 years supervisory and 5+ years in operations; a Bachelor's degree preferred; strong communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Business Management or related field preferred and/or combination of college level courses in science, math or technical subjects.
• 3+ years prior supervisory experience.
• 5+ years prior operations/plant experience.
• Strong communication, verbal and written skills.
• Understanding of financial reports, budgetary methods and forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure plant and staff operate in accordance with Airgas Safety Pledge and safety policies.
• Partner with the team to achieve safety, health, environmental, and quality goals.
• In absence of Facility Manager, support site security, safety, and operations.
• Guide, support, and mentor team members to help everyone perform at their best.
• Conduct performance reviews and nurture career growth for staff.
• Foster an inclusive environment and build positive employee relations.
• Develop procedures and training to support regulatory and company requirements.
• Collaborate on projects to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Foster project completion and track progress toward goals.
