Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a senior Plant Operations leader to manage all aspects of operation and maintenance with P&L responsibility, staff development, safety training, and environmental compliance. You will support plant strategy, procurement, and external service providers in a dynamic financial climate.

The role requires proven leadership, cost control, and continuous improvement, with the ability to interface with regulators, customers, and senior management to drive safe, reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or related technical discipline with 10+ years experience; or 14+ years in related field
• Proven record of successfully leading/supervising employees
• Knowledge of Human Resources, Labor and Employee Relations
• Keeps up with competitive business practices in daily work
• Committed to making workplace safe and environmentally sound
• Willing to interface with regulators, political, business and public representatives

Responsibilities

• Supports and emphasizes safety and environmental programs and ensures regulatory compliance
• Promotes productivity and teamwork with open communication, timely decision making, and use of leadership skills to set high standards of performance
• Promotes and supports the development of technical leadership and business skills of employees
• Responsible for matrix communications to NRG management and site owners
• Provides regular feedback to employees on performance to capitalize on strengths
• Creates and maintains an organizational culture of involvement, innovation, adaptation, risk-taking, customer focus and continuous improvement
• Formulates strategies to support NRG strategy and manages goals and initiatives
• Manages all business aspects of assigned area to maximize competitive plant position
