Job summary

CareerNerds, LLC is seeking an on-site HR Business Partner to lead HR operations at a consumer products manufacturing site near Pittsburgh. You will partner with plant management, support hourly and salaried staff, and serve as the go-to HR resource on site.

The role offers a clear path to broader HR oversight across multiple sites, with a strong emphasis on employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, and policy compliance in a union-influenced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years in HR within manufacturing or warehousing.
• Union environment experience preferred; strong candidates without it who show they can pick it up will be considered.
• Able to handle sensitive employee matters independently and judge when escalation is warranted.
• Builds trust easily with everyone from the floor to the front office.
• HRIS experience a plus, especially helping with an implementation.
• Must be local; relocation is not offered.

Responsibilities

• Act as the single point of HR contact for a plant of roughly 80 employees.
• Coach plant leaders through employee relations issues, performance conversations, and conflict.
• Work alongside corporate HR on union grievances and labor relations.
• Drive site-level recruiting, onboarding, and retention.
• Keep the site in line with employment law and company policy.
• Stay visible on the production floor so employees know who to come to.
• Help roll out HR systems and process improvements.
• Report site trends and concerns up to HR leadership.
