Job summary

General Motors in Michigan is seeking a Controls Engineer Intern to support maintenance and operation of specialist equipment. You will gain hands-on experience in electrical support for industrial manufacturing, root-cause analysis, and problem solving while upholding safety and ergonomics standards.

You will lead electrical projects, participate in plant meetings, develop cost estimates and project plans, apply statistical methods for continuous improvement, and assist in PLC/robotics/HMI

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Controls Engineering.
• Graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical projects including new operations improvements, and periodic repair and replacement.
• Participate in plant meetings representing engineering to help reach performance goals.
• Develop cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, and plans for minor projects.
• Utilize statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems.
• Develop and monitor planning timetables and project schedules.
• Coordinate and communicate changes to improve assembly process conditions.
• Program manufacturing technology (PLC, robotics, HMI).
• Analyze product, process and technology to determine best methods of manufacture.
• Assist in design/build of tools and equipment or propose improvements.
