Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for Global Automation, based in Warren, MI, with assignments across U.S. plant and corporate locations.

You will learn problem solving, collaborate with team members, and engage with advanced manufacturing technologies. You'll work full-time for the summer, supporting the development of processes, equipment, and software for assembly, stamping, and propulsion plants, while gaining hands-on experience in automation, safety standards,

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in one of the listed areas.
• Must be graduating December 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
• Must be willing to work any shift, potentially including weekends.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop processes, equipment, and tools for multiple plants and launches globally.
• Program and integrate software and hardware on industrial automation equipment (Rockwell/Siemens PLCs, HMIs, robots).
• Understand current automation safety standards and ensure they are upheld.
• Collaborate with other centers to reduce energy and waste globally.
• Assist in development of new software, hardware, and error-proofing standards.
• Review wiring diagrams for various systems and networks.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers for first-time quality and on-time delivery.
