Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking an experienced Engineering/Maintenance leader to drive capital projects from concept to completion and optimize plant maintenance systems.

You will manage teams, lead TPM initiatives, and ensure safe, efficient operations on site, with strong emphasis on data-driven improvements and cost containment. The role requires 8+ years in engineering/maintenance leadership, PLC/instrumentation knowledge, and excellent collaboration across functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; 8+ years' experience or equivalent combination
• 2+ years of team management/development or project leadership experience
• Strong leadership, planning, and teamwork abilities
• Advanced mechanical/electrical skills (PLCs, instrumentation) for manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of maintenance systems, TPM, and preventive/predictive maintenance
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel/Word
• Excellent written and oral communication,-critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Own capital projects from concept to completion, manage scheduling, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
• Lead maintenance systems development, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, and optimization
• Manage maintenance staff, delegate tasks, enforce safety policies and plant compliance
• Provide short-term fixes and long-term solutions to operational issues
• Develop and track KPIs to measure maintenance performance and cost savings
• Provide leadership and flexibility when coverage is needed; coach and develop staff
• Drive team development and effective people management across the maintenance function
