Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a senior leader to head maintenance and engineering in a fast-paced plant.

You will drive capital projects, implement maintenance systems, and lead a safety-conscious team to maximize uptime and process efficiency. You will influence equipment reliability, lead TPM initiatives, and guide cross-functional teams across manufacturing operations to deliver innovative technology projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8+ years' experience, or equivalent combination.
• 2+ years in team management or project leadership.
• High level of leadership, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
• Advanced mechanical/electrical skills (PLCs, instrumentation); lead resource planning in a large manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM.
• Ability to use exposure monitoring equipment; interpret results.
• MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Clear, concise written and oral communication; strong analytical skills.
• May require long hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Own capital projects from concept to completion; manage schedules to minimize disruption and ensure safety, food safety and environmental compliance.
• Lead development and implementation of maintenance systems (Preventive/Predictive Maintenance, TPM) to maximize uptime.
• Inspire and manage the maintenance team; delegate tasks, enforce policies, and ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Provide short- and long-term solutions to daily operational challenges and equipment issues.
• Develop and track KPIs for maintenance performance and plant reliability.
• Provide leadership during absences; ensure tasks are completed or delegated.
• Drive people development and coaching for a positive employee experience.
