Job summary

National Gypsum Company is seeking a Plant Environmental Health & Safety Manager to lead EHS programs and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and company standards. You will develop, implement, and train teams on environmental, health, and safety initiatives while maintaining regulatory adherence.

Responsibilities include monitoring regulations, auditing, training delivery, stormwater and air permit compliance, and leading the Safety Committee. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Environmental, Health & Safety Management or 3–5 years EHS experience.
• 3 years EHS experience in manufacturing or 5 years industrial experience.
• 1–3 years’ experience developing and administering EHS programs & training.
• Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry Standards, EPA Air, Water & Waste Regulations.
• MSHA training (24 hours) required; MSHA Certified Trainer a plus.
• Strong communication and ability to influence others.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 10%.
• Hybrid work is not available for this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying, developing, administering, and enforcing EHS policies and programs.
• Monitor and update EHS regulations, provide technical EHS support to team members.
• Ensure EHS training is current and compliant with EPA/OSHA requirements.
• Manage stormwater, water intake, site waste disposal and Title V air permit compliance.
• Ensure compliance to EHS audit standards and collaborate with auditors.
• Lead development of safe, environmentally sound work procedures per corporate guidelines.
• Manage EHS inspection programs for facilities, machinery, and safety equipment.
• Review project plans to ensure environmental, health, and safety requirements are met.
• Lead the plant Safety Committee and ensure active participation across departments.
• Provide development opportunities for site associates in EHS leadership and training.
• Manage injury/illness investigations and EHS action item logs.
• Lead site sustainability data collection and reporting.
• Serve as a member of First Aid/CPR/ERT team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
