Job summary

Pinellas County Government is seeking a Building Plans Examiner to perform highly advanced technical work reviewing commercial and residential construction documents for compliance with the building, life safety, accessibility and energy codes, flood regulations, and related land use codes.

The role ensures timely plan reviews before permits issuance and requires collaboration with architects, engineers, contractors, and municipal staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of building codes, review procedures and standards.
• Ability to interpret and apply plans and specifications to ensure compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical coordination.

Responsibilities

• Verify construction documents against applicable codes and standards.
• Represent/advocate for Building Services with communities and enforcement actions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
