Job summary

SAFEbuilt seeks a competent Plans Examiner to review non-structural plans for commercial, industrial, and residential projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. You will liaise with municipal staff and clients and may perform field inspections to interpret codes on site.

The role requires ICC Plans Examiner certifications (preferred) and experience reviewing construction plans, with strong knowledge of building codes and effective communication skills.

Qualifications

• ICC Plans Examiner certifications preferred.
• Experience reviewing construction plans for various project types.
• Strong knowledge of local building codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide complete non-structural plan reviews for commercial, industrial and residential buildings for code compliance.
• Review all plans and specifications to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Initiate preconstruction conferences with contractors or developers and staff.
• Provide technical direction and assistance to inspection personnel for field problems.
• Assess and resolve complaints from clients, applicants, public, designers, and contractors.
• Interact regularly with municipal clients and their staff.
• May perform inspections in the field and interpret codes onsite.
• Attend meetings, educational seminars, and code-related trainings.
