Job summary
Citrus County Board of County Commissioners seeks a Plans Examiner-Inspector I to perform highly skilled technical work reviewing permit documents and inspecting building construction to ensure code compliance within the BUILDING discipline. The role includes ADA reviews, adherence to ordinances, and strong customer service in interactions with owners, contractors, and the public.
The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM for a full-time position.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 4+ years combined experience in construction, building code inspection, or plans review.
- 3 years total experience when combined with related education.
- Combination of technical education and experience in construction acceptable.
Responsibilities
- Drive or operate county vehicle as required and follow safety policies.
- Inspect buildings under construction/demolition for code compliance.
- Review building plans and discuss issues with builders/owners/designers.
- Interact with the public and professionals to address problems.
- Investigate misapplications or fraud and initiate corrective action when needed.
- Maintain records and prepare routine reports.
- Lead or participate in staff meetings and professional events.
- Perform other duties as required.
