Job summary

The City of Naples is seeking a qualified Plans Examiner to review commercial and residential building plans for compliance with Florida codes and life safety regulations. You will perform field inspections and coordinate with inspectors, architects, and builders to ensure regulatory compliance.

With an associate degree in a related field and 5 years in code enforcement or construction inspection, you will acquire Provisional and Standard State Plans Examiner Certifications within set timelines

Qualifications

• Associates degree in building construction, engineering, architecture or fire administration.
• Minimum five (5) years experience in code enforcement and/or construction inspection in at least one critical discipline.
• Equivalent education, training and experience may be considered.
• Acquire Provisional State Plans Examiner Certification within 90 days of hire and Standard State Plans Examiner Certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve commercial and residential building plans for compliance with Florida codes and life safety regs.
• Perform field inspections to ensure conformance with state and local codes.
• Coordinate plan reviews and inspections; provide guidance to inspectors and applicants.
• Investigate complaints and communicate corrective actions to responsible parties.
• Maintain records of inspections, plans, and reports for regulatory compliance.
