Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Production Manager Trainee in North Carolina to learn and master all farm department areas, systems, and duties under supervision. The role requires earning certifications across pig production processes, animal flow, health, genetics, and husbandry, while performing hourly tasks and preparing improvement reports.

Candidate must be able to work a 48-hour week, be ready to relocate for training, and demonstrate leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or enrolled with anticipated graduation by end of current semester.
• Must be able to work an average 48-hour week, which can vary frequently.
• Must be willing to relocate to complete training and assume first managerial assignment.
• Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software.
• Must be able to lead others and build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Learns, demonstrates capability/knowledge and becomes certified in all farm department areas and company systems.
• Performs hourly jobs under supervision and becomes certified in each.
• Develops and prepares required reports on experiences encountered and addresses/shares opportunities for improvement.
• Reports environmental, animal care, and biosecurity issues to supervisor.
• Progresses through the Manager Training development program and coordinates with Human Resources.
