Job summary

National Steel and Shipbuilding Com in Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking a Pier Coordinator to join the Production Management team. The role centers on managing pier operations, material movements, labeling, HAZMAT handling, and coordination with Trades, Navy, SWRMC, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent, and six (6) year Cumulative trade and/or Production Control experience.
• Must be able to operate forklifts and aerial lifts
• Must be able to acquire DBIDS
• Understand shipboard and industrial safety requirements
• Knowledge of NAVSEA standard items
• Must have a good command of the English language both written and oral
• Must have reliable transportation
• Ability to convey thoughts and ideas in a consistent logical manner
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Knowledge of Material Delivery Procedures
• NASSCO Safety Policy
• Forklift Operation must have (or be able to obtain) a forklift license
• HAZMAT Training (or be able to obtain)

Responsibilities

• Keep Pier and lay down area clean; ensure equipment is tagged and stored properly
• Manage material going aboard and coming off the ship
• Label and dispose of materials properly
• Serve as point of contact for project management and trades for movements from ships, shops and warehouses
• Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
• Regular, reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of this job
