Job summary

Colonna's Shipyard, Inc. seeks a Lead Mechanic Rigger for Steel America at its Norfolk, VA site. You will guide a small crew, perform rigging and crane tasks, mentor technicians, and ensure safe, high-quality output on production projects.

Occasional travel and extended hours may be required; travel flexibility is essential, with onsite work in Norfolk, VA. Strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience with overhead and mobile crane operations.
• Proven rigging, signaling, and platform installation skills.
• Ability to read/select project drawings and specs.
• Regular, reliable attendance and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small crew in production and rigging tasks on ship repair projects.
• Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently and to quality standards.
• Mentor tradespeople and assist training under LMS or Foreman.
• Support daily production planning and toolbox talks.
