Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Unit Leader – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital to coordinate patient care on a designated unit with the Clinical Manager.

You will apply nursing knowledge to promote excellence in practice and patient satisfaction while ensuring efficient use of resources. The role emphasizes staff guidance, interprofessional collaboration, and ongoing quality improvement, with opportunities for precepting and leadership development in a faith-based, patient-centered

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state or compact (required).
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred; must obtain prior to patient care).
• PALS/ACLS/NRP/TNCC/ENPC certifications preferred where applicable.
• National Board Certification or specialty credential preferred.
• 2 years nursing experience with 1 year in acuity-focused area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adjust schedules and assignments to acuity and resource changes.
• Guide staff and oversee unit in the absence of the leader.
• Maintain safety and infection control standards in care delivery.
• Communicate plan of care with patients and families clearly.
• Round on patients to evaluate safety, quality and experience.
• Serve as a resource to staff, patients and families for communication.
• Mentor staff and support precepting activities as needed.
• Collaborate across disciplines for care coordination.
• Participate in quality monitoring and performance improvement.
• Facilitate admission, transfer and discharge processes.
