Job summary

Mercy Health – Youngstown, OH, is seeking a Lead RN/Charge Nurse to coordinate patient care on a designated unit in collaboration with the Clinical Manager. The role focuses on applying nursing knowledge to sustain an environment that promotes clinical excellence and exceptional patient experience.

The position emphasizes scheduling, staff guidance, infection control, and interprofessional coordination to optimize efficiency and outcomes while mentoring staff and ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred).
• Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required).
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire).
• Certifications required based on the unit(s) that the leader oversees (e.g., PALS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC; preferred).

Responsibilities

• Adjusts the schedule and patient assignments to acuity and resources.
• Provides guidance to staff and oversees unit in absence of the leader.
• Maintains environmental safety standards and infection control.
• Communicates with patients and families about nursing care.
• Rounds on patients to evaluate safety, quality and experience.
