Job summary

Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital is seeking a Clinical Unit Leader to coordinate patient care on a designated unit. The role partners with the Clinical Manager to apply nursing processes and professional standards to promote excellence in care and patient experience while optimizing resources.

The position requires current RN licensure and leadership capabilities; BSN is preferred, with several certifications encouraged. Strong communication and team leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Current RN license in state of practice.
• BLS certification preferred; ACLS/PALS/NRP/ENPC may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts the schedule and patient assignments to accommodate changes in acuity and resources.
• Provides guidance and supervision of staff; oversees unit in the absence of the leader.
• Maintains environmental safety standards and infection control; uses appropriate supplies and equipment.
• Communicates with patients and families regarding care plans and interventions.
• Rounds to evaluate safety, quality, and patient experience; supports interprofessional collaboration.
• Mentors staff, serves as clinical resource and may act as a preceptor.
