Job summary

01 ETCH East Tennessee Children's Hospital Association, Inc. seeks an Educational Coordinator to develop and implement orientation and ongoing education for nursing units, including input for new employee orientation and nurse residency programs.

The role coordinates with the centralized education department on hospital-wide nursing education activities, evaluates staff competency, and supports preceptors and unit leaders in professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required; Master's degree preferred.
• RN license active in Tennessee.
• BLS and PALS/NRP Provider status required.
• BLS instructor within one year of hire.
• PALS/NRP instructor preferred.
• Certification in Nursing Staff Development desired.
• Minimum 3 years professional nursing experience and 1 year training-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops annual outcomes-focused educational plan with input from nurse manager and clinical education coordinator.
• Implements plan using quality, project and systems management.
• Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals for professional, unit, and department levels.
• Ensures education is available and documented.
• Integrates research and evidence-based findings into practice.
• Preceptor educational programs and ongoing support to preceptors.
• Coaches and develops unit staff as preceptors and mentors.
• Coordinates unit-based orientation with licensed and non-licensed staff.
• Performs staff nurse duties to meet departmental needs.
• Acts as CBISA reporter for the department.
• Reports benefit activities and enters information into CBISA software.
• Completes monthly reports by August 1 of the next fiscal year.
