POSITION SUMMARY:
Medical Assistants support providers in ECMP Vernon Internal Medicine. They are multi-skilled, assume various roles, and are vital partners in delivering quality patient care and increasing office productivity. Medical Assistants handle both administrative and clinical duties, demonstrating attention to detail, accuracy, professionalism, and superior customer service and clinical skills at all times.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus one of the following:
- Completed a Medical Assistant Program
- Certification/Registration as an MA
- 5+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in lieu of certification or attending an MA Program
- 5+ years of experience as a Nurse Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant with at least 1 year of experience
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in a medical facility is highly preferred.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, confidential medical environment.
- Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions.
- Sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting, including standing, sitting, bending, lifting light to moderate weights, and operating equipment.
- Ability to maintain relationships and interact with patients and staff daily.
- Reliable transportation and ability to float to other offices as needed.
- Strong computer and keyboarding skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Greet patients and prepare them for examinations.
- Keep patient records current.
- Document medication dispensation.
- Oversee vaccine programs following state guidelines.
- Restock exam rooms and maintain inventory.
- Report equipment malfunctions.
- Clean and sterilize equipment, prepare surgical trays.
- Assist with office surgical procedures.
- Perform EKG and Spirometry tests.
- Report lab results and follow up with patients as instructed.
- Handle prescription refill requests.
- Prepare specimens for lab testing.
- Guide patients on specimen collection.
- Check and dispose of expired medications monthly.
- Obtain preauthorizations for tests and treatments.
- Schedule referrals and outside testing.
- Maintain a neat work area.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA regulations.
- Participate in Patient Centered Medical Home Care Team collaborations.
- May float to other offices or perform additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
