Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking an experienced physician with active, unrestricted U.S. MD or DO licensure to support inpatient case reviews and utilization decisions.

The role requires strong clinical knowledge across multiple areas, superb communication, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment. The position offers evening and weekend shifts with substantial schedule flexibility, and includes opportunities to collaborate with attending physicians, case managers, and the utilization review team.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted U.S. MD or DO medical licensure.
• 3+ years post-residency experience focused on inpatient treatment.
• Strong clinical knowledge across multiple clinical areas.
• Professional, organized and possess persuasive writing and speaking skills.
• Flexible schedule to meet business needs; weekends required.
• HIPAA-compliant home office requirements.

Responsibilities

• Address compliance and admission status issues.
• Review and respond to customer messages within 1–2 hours of submission.
• Work during pre-scheduled hours; schedules set ~30 days in advance.
• Independently perform with high performance in fast-paced settings.
• Meet quality and productivity standards.
• Engage with attending physicians to discuss status with documentation.
• Contact utilization review team or case managers regarding determinations.
• Provide written case analyses and review cases across multiple specialties.
