Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a physician advisor for the Admission Status Review team within the PAS to ensure compliant admission status for inpatients. You will review cases, communicate findings, and collaborate with physicians and client hospitals to support accurate determinations.

The role requires an active U.S. MD/DO license, 3+ years inpatient experience, and strong clinical knowledge. Flexible scheduling, HIPAA-compliant home office, and participation in a 10% target bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted U.S. MD or DO medical licensure.
• At least 3 years of experience post-residency focused on inpatient care.
• Strong clinical knowledge across multiple clinical areas.
• Computer proficient.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional, organized with persuasive writing and speaking.
• Strong negotiating, reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
• Schedule flexibility to meet business needs.
• Weekend work commitment (approx. 30%+ hours).
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Home office that is HIPAA compliant.

Responsibilities

• Review and respond to customer inquiries within 1–2 hours of submission.
• Work during pre-scheduled hours with advance planning.
• Work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting quality and productivity standards.
• Engage with attending physicians to discuss appropriate status with documentation.
• Contact utilization review team and case managers regarding determinations.
• Provide written analysis of cases and perform reviews across multiple specialties.
