Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy in New York is seeking a Physical Therapist Aide to support therapists and patients in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

You will assist with exercises, prepare supplies, maintain cleanliness, and help with scheduling and front desk duties as described. The role emphasizes patient comfort, safety, and precise record-keeping while contributing to a compassionate treatment team.

Qualifications

• Must be able to cover 15-20 minutes from your home office and arrange transportation for shifts.
• Knowledge of Anatomy and Kinesiology.
• Knowledge of the equipment used in therapy work.
• Knowledge of the behavior and needs of patients.
• Knowledge of proper strengthening techniques.
• Knowledge of the use of restraints and aggressive behavior management practices.
• Ability to successfully complete in-service training.
• Ability to observe, evaluate, and record conditions, reactions, and changes in patients' physical condition.
• Ability to maintain appropriate attitude and conduct necessary to the welfare of patients.
• Ability to create and maintain records and write brief reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under supervision of a Doctor of Physical Therapy and/or Occupational Therapist.
• Help treat patients by preparing heat and ice packs; paraffin dips; assisting patients to the pool; guiding patients to exercise equipment, monitoring motion, and strengthening techniques.
• Ensure operation of treatment equipment by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
• Prepare patients for therapy by welcoming, comforting, and assisting into sessions.
• Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests; reassure and reduce fears.
• Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
• Keep a safe, clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Provide equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering to treatment area; position equipment.
• Prepare treatment room for patients by following procedures and protocols.
• Answer calls from physician offices, hospitals, and patients with exemplary customer service.
• Maintain therapy supplies inventory and place orders as needed."
• Provide front desk coverage as needed; assist with scheduling and calls from offices/hospitals.
• Perform other front desk duties as required.
