Job summary

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy in Setauket, NY seeks a Physical Therapy Aide to assist therapists, prepare treatments, and support front desk operations. You will record exercises, assist with pool activities, and help maintain a safe, clean therapy environment.

The role requires strong knowledge of anatomy, therapy equipment, patient care, and safety. You may need to travel to coverage sites and conduct administrative tasks as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Must be able to cover 15-20 minutes from home office and be responsible for transportation to/from work, including coverage shifts.
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Kinesiology
• Knowledge of therapy equipment
• Knowledge of patient needs and behavior
• Knowledge of strengthening techniques
• Knowledge of restraints and behavior management practices
• Ability to complete in-service training
• Ability to observe, evaluate, and record patient condition changes
• Ability to maintain professional conduct for patient welfare
• Ability to create/maintain records and write brief reports
• Ability to communicate effectively

Responsibilities

• Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under supervision by a Doctor of Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy.
• Prepare heat and ice packs, assist patients to the pool, guide patients to equipment and exercises, and monitor exertion levels.
• Ensure operation of treatment equipment through maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
• Prepare treatment rooms and assist patients for therapy sessions.
• Provide information to patients by answering questions and addressing requests.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Supply and sterilize equipment, deliver to treatment areas, and assist therapists with access.
• Prepare rooms and equipment for patient visits per prescribed procedures.
• Answer calls from physician offices, hospitals, and patients with excellent customer service.
• Manage inventory of therapy supplies and place orders as needed.
• Provide front desk coverage and assist with scheduling as required.
• Perform other front desk duties and assignments.
