Job summary

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy in Town of Smithtown, NY seeks a Physical Therapist Aide to support therapists, prepare treatment areas, assist patients with exercises, and maintain equipment. This role offers exposure to state-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative clinical team.

You will assist with therapy sessions, educate patients, handle front desk duties when needed, and help maintain safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must be able to cover 15-20 minutes from your home office and provide transportation to shifts.
• Anatomy & Kinesiology knowledge.
• Equipment used in therapy work knowledge.
• Understanding patient behavior and needs.
• Knowledge of strengthening techniques.
• Knowledge of restraints and aggression management practices.
• Ability to complete in-service training.
• Ability to observe, evaluate and record patient conditions.
• Maintain appropriate attitude and conduct for patient welfare.
• Ability to create and maintain records and write brief reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under supervision.
• Help treat patients by preparing heat and ice packs; assist with pool and equipment usage.
• Ensure operation of treatment equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercises.
• Prepare patients for therapy sessions and provide reassurance.
• Answer questions and address patient requests; alleviate fears.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment per procedures and regulations.
• Provide equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering to treatment area.
• Prepare treatment room and assist therapists with procedures.
• Answer calls from physicians, hospitals, and patients with good customer service.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and anticipate needs; place orders as needed.
• Provide front desk coverage and assist with scheduling.
• Perform other front desk duties as required.
