Job summary

New Concepts for Living (NCFL) is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team in Paramus, NJ. The PTA will support adults with developmental disabilities through habilitative therapy services under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.

The role emphasizes collaboration with clinical leaders, documentation, and adapting treatment plans to achieve meaningful outcomes across home and community settings. This full-time position requires NJ licensure and relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Valid New Jersey PTA license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience; experience with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide habilitative therapy services to promote independence, mobility, and quality of life.
  • Work with supervising Physical Therapist and Clinical Director to provide individualized care.
  • Adapt and modify treatment approaches with the Physical Therapist as needed.
  • Educate direct support staff on therapy recommendations and strategies for outside therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with Support Coordinators to implement recommendations in home and community settings.
  • Maintain timely notes, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.

We’re looking for a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) who is passionate about turning clinical expertise into real-world progress.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
As a Physical Therapist Assistant at NCFL, you’ll:
  • Provide habilitative therapy services designed to promote independence, mobility, and quality of life.
  • Work closely with the supervising Physical Therapist and Clinical Director to provide effective, individualized care.
  • Adapt and modify treatment approaches in coordination with the Physical Therapist as indicated.
  • Support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and individuals with physical, cognitive, and psychological needs.
  • Educate direct support staff on therapy recommendations and strategies to be implemented outside of therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with Support Coordinators to help ensure recommendations are implemented in home and community settings.
  • Maintain timely and accurate daily notes, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary team members to promote effective, coordinated client care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute your clinical expertise to support positive outcomes.
  • Follow NJ DDD guidelines for habilitative therapy services and maintain compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Schedule:
  • Full-time
  • 45 hours per week
  • Services provided in Paramus & Rochelle Park, NJ achievement centers
What You’ll Need:
  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program
  • Valid New Jersey Physical Therapist Assistant license
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Physical Therapists, healthcare providers, Support Coordinators, direct support staff, and other members of the care team
  • Ability to develop and implement effective treatment strategies and recommendations
  • Experience with Foothold AWARDS is preferred
