Job summary

Avant Rehabilitation & Care Center in Trenton, NJ is seeking a qualified Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our compassionate care team. Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, you will help implement individualized treatment plans and support residents' mobility and well-being.

Candidates must have graduated from an accredited PTA program and hold current NJ licensure. Prior long-term care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current New Jersey PTA licensure.
• Experience in skilled nursing/long-term care preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans designed by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist residents in exercises and activities to improve mobility, strength, and coordination.
• Monitor and document residents’ progress; report changes to the Physical Therapist.
• Educate residents and families on techniques and exercises to support rehabilitation.
• Ensure safety and comfort during therapy sessions; maintain a positive environment.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other therapists for comprehensive care.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Adhere to facility policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Duties & Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans designed by the Physical Therapist.


• Assist residents in exercises and therapeutic activities aimed at improving their mobility, strength, and coordination.


• Monitor and document residents’ progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the Physical Therapist.


• Provide education to residents and their families on techniques and exercises to support rehabilitation.


• Ensure safety and comfort during therapy sessions, maintaining a positive and encouraging environment.


• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and other therapists, to ensure comprehensive care.

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Qualifications & Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting is preferred.
