Job Summary

This position is 0.8 FTE Early On, 0.2 FTE District.

We are seeking an adaptable, self-directed Physical Therapist (PT) to support children from birth through school age in both Early On (0-3) and PreK-4 district environments. In this dual-focus role, you will evaluate child needs, write comprehensive evaluation reports, and participate in IFSP and IEP development. For Early On families, you will provide home visits, facilitate playgroups, and coach parents on embedding therapeutic strategies into daily home routines. For district students, you will deliver direct physical therapy, adapt classroom environments, and implement assistive equipment to improve mobility and classroom access.

Qualifications & Core Competencies
  • Self-Directed & Adaptable: Strong initiative with the ability to work effectively across diverse school settings, home environments, and family dynamics.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to collaborate professionally with educators, families, and community partners while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in utilizing technology for remote service delivery, electronic documentation, and preparing professional materials.
Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluations & Assessment: Assess motor functioning of children- including infants/toddlers (0-3) and school-aged children- interpreting clinical results and preparing comprehensive evaluation reports.
  • Direct Support & Services: Provide home visits, coaching services, small group opportunities, and school-based interventions to support physical development, mobility, and educational access.
  • Plan Development & Compliance: Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), maintaining timely, compliant service logs and documentation.
  • Resource Coordination & Training: Develop motor development workshops for Early On providers and staff, while connecting families with community resources to support their child's growth.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed physical therapist with current credentials through LARA.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation
Working Conditions
  • The Early On program serves children and families in Grosse Pointe, Hamtramck, Harper Woods, and Highland Park
  • This is a year-round position
  • Approximately 5 weeks of work during the traditional summer break
  • 5 additional weeks off during the school year
  • Services are provided in natural environments, including homes and community settings
  • Salary and benefits are competitive and in accordance with the Grosse Pointe Education Association
