Job summary

Grosse Pointe Public School System is seeking a Physical Therapist (PT) to serve Early On (0-3) and PreK-4 district students in a 0.8 FTE/0.2 FTE split role. You will evaluate motor needs, write reports, and participate in IFSP/IEP development, with home visits and classroom-based services as needed.

Responsibilities include direct PT, adapting environments, and coordinating with families and school staff to improve mobility and access to learning.

Qualifications

• Licensed physical therapist with current credentials through LARA.
• Knowledge of early childhood development.
• Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation.

Job Summary

This position is 0.8 FTE Early On, 0.2 FTE District.

We are seeking an adaptable, self-directed Physical Therapist (PT) to support children from birth through school age in both Early On (0-3) and PreK-4 district environments. In this dual-focus role, you will evaluate child needs, write comprehensive evaluation reports, and participate in IFSP and IEP development. For Early On families, you will provide home visits, facilitate playgroups, and coach parents on embedding therapeutic strategies into daily home routines. For district students, you will deliver direct physical therapy, adapt classroom environments, and implement assistive equipment to improve mobility and classroom access.

• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to collaborate professionally with educators, families, and community partners while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Working Conditions

• The Early On program serves children and families in Grosse Pointe, Hamtramck, Harper Woods, and Highland Park
• This is a year-round position, including:
  • Approximately 5 weeks of work during the traditional summer break
  • 5 additional weeks off during the school year
• Services are provided in natural environments, including homes and community settings
