Job summary

Avo Photonics in the United States is seeking a Technical Business Development Manager to lead growth through new customer acquisition and robust pipeline development.

You will apply strong technical and engineering expertise to identify opportunities, engage customers, and develop photonics solutions, cost models, schedules, and quotes, acting as a true hunter who builds relationships with engineering and business stakeholders across complex programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, physics, chemistry, or another technical field.
• 5+ years in business development, strategic sales, account development, or technical commercial roles in photonics.
• Proven success generating pipeline and closing complex B2B opportunities (new + expansion).
• Strong discovery and qualification capabilities across technical and commercial audiences.
• Excellent written and verbal English, organizational skills and follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Lead initial technical discussions with potential customers and capture requirements.
• Create cost models, schedules, and quotes.
• Identify targets, conduct outreach, secure meetings, and run discovery with stakeholders.
• Deliver quotes representing the development approach and logic.
• Coordinate scoping with engineering, quality, operations, and program management; ensure inputs are complete.
• Close and win business.
• Monitor profitability and adapt the sales process as needed.
• Maintain CRM hygiene: stages, value, probability, close timing, next actions, and deal notes.
