Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a PRN Phlebotomist to join our hospital-based lab team. You will perform patient registration assistance, accurate specimen collection, labeling, and safe handling while upholding infection control and safety protocols.

You will work with Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information System (LIS) to release orders, collect specimens, and support the phlebotomy team. The role involves training partners and maintaining a calm, professional patient experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Phlebotomy course completion or previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Experience as Paramedic, EMT, CNA or MA is helpful.
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proficient with Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information System (LIS) to release orders and register patients.
• Performs patient registration, labeling, specimen collection and handling with safety protocols.
• Ensure accurate specimen identification and tracking, and resolve issues with supervisors when needed.
• Assist with orientation and training of new phlebotomy partners.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Phlebotomy course completion

Experience as Paramedic/EMT/CNA/MA

Phlebotomy Certification preferred
