Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a skilled phlebotomist to collect blood samples and support patient care across multiple sites in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

The role requires proficiency in phlebotomy, specimen labeling, and accurate data entry in HIS/LIS, with emphasis on patient safety and infection control. Training and mentorship are provided within an integrated health system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of a phlebotomy course or prior phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Experience as Paramedic/EMT/CNA/MA is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Proficiently collect blood specimens using aseptic technique and patient identifiers.
• Register patients, collect demographic and insurance information in HIS/LIS.
• Prepare and label specimens with accuracy; identify and resolve order issues.
• Maintain safety, infection control, and quality control practices at all times.
• Communicate critical results to licensed personnel and document actions.
