Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Lab Support Technician (Phlebotomy) I to join our laboratory team in a full-time role. You will collect specimens, ensure accurate processing and transport, and support data entry, reporting, and scheduling while delivering outstanding customer service to patients and providers.

The position emphasizes HIPAA compliance, accuracy, and teamwork within Mercy's mission and service standards. Prior phlebotomy exposure is beneficial; training is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within six months of hire.
• Probationary period must be completed.
• No active disciplinary actions or performance improvement plans.
• Strong communication, organizational and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Collect laboratory specimens safely, accurately, and professionally through phlebotomy practices.
• Process, transport, and refer laboratory specimens according to procedures.
• Support laboratory operations through data entry, reporting, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and laboratory policies.
• Ensure accurate and timely handling of laboratory reports.
