Job summary

Preferred Hospital Leasing Coleman Inc. seeks a Laboratory Support Technician to perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and specimen collection, ensuring proper labeling and accessioning in the LIS.

You will prepare specimens for analysis and coordinate transport to reference labs as required. The role requires familiarity with laboratory policies, patient care across ages, and adherence to quality control, safety, and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Accredited PBT/MA program certification.
• 1–2 years experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patient to the laboratory, logs specimens into LIS, verifies patient ID and assigns accession numbers, labels specimens and prepares them for processing.
• Prepares specimens for immediate analysis or transport to reference laboratories per policy.
• Responds to in-person and telephone requests from providers, patients, hospital staff or refers them to appropriate personnel.
• Performs waived and moderate complexity testing under supervision of a laboratory technologist or manager.
• Maintains lab equipment and inventory, orders supplies, and ensures quality control requirements are followed.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and follows PHI reporting guidelines.
