Job summary

University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital is seeking a skilled phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen processing in a fast-paced clinical laboratory. The role includes patient interaction, specimen labeling, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, phlebotomy certification, and BLS. Preference for experience in a clinical lab and knowledge of aseptic procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of college with a major in biological sciences, chemistry or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in a clinical laboratory or anatomic pathology lab preferred.
• California Phlebotomy Certification - CPTI or CPTII required.
• Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Answer and screen or transfer telephone calls.
• Perform venipuncture on infants and children as required.
• Obtain specimens using standardized venipuncture techniques.
• Process and label specimens for laboratory testing.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness; adhere to asepsis standards.
• Assist with clerical functions in the laboratory office.
