Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from an accredited Phlebotomy Program with CPT certification preferred.
• 1 year of phlebotomy experience in an acute care setting recommended.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood sample specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods per clinician requests.
• Receive and screen specimens for acceptability per guidelines.
• Deliver blood products to Surgery and transport surgical specimens as required.
• Process, distribute or package all specimens (except Anatomic Pathology).
• Handle inquiries for lab results, specimen status and general department information.
• Communicate professionally with patients, coworkers and visitors; maintain patient age considerations.
