Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited Phlebotomy Program.
• 1 year phlebotomy experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood sample specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods.
• Receive and screen specimens for acceptability.
• Deliver blood products to Surgery and specimens to appropriate lab sections.
• Process, distribute or package all specimens received (except Anatomic Pathology).
• Handle inquiries for lab results, specimen status, and department information.
• Interact professionally with patients, co-workers, and guests.
• Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Perform other clinical and clerical duties as needed.
• Maintain professional growth and participate in Quality Improvement.
