Job summary

Mercyhealth in Illinois is seeking a phlebotomy professional to support patient registration, specimen collection, and sample processing across hospital and laboratory systems. You will use HIS/LIS to release orders, manage data entry, and ensure specimen integrity with strict safety practices.

Responsibilities include collecting blood, labeling accurately, and communicating with patients and staff. Prior experience in phlebotomy or related healthcare roles is preferred; certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of a phlebotomy course or previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proficient with HIS/LIS to release orders or register patients.
• Perform patient registration and data entry for efficient sample processing.
• Collect blood specimens with proper labeling and patient identification.
• Adhere to safety and infection control practices at all times.
• Transport and handle specimens to ensure integrity and timely processing.
• Provide patient instruction and support during collection procedures.
