Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley seeks a Phlebotomy Technician Laboratory Assistant II to collect and process patient specimens and support laboratory operations. You will perform venipunctures, accession specimens, and verify orders while maintaining safety and quality workflows in a clinical setting.

The role includes handling specimens for testing, assisting with pre-analytical steps, and mentoring students and new staff.

Qualifications

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician required or ASCP certification.
• Graduate of NAACLS approved Phlebotomy program or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures per CLSI guidelines.
• Accession specimens and verify patient information.
• Process and prepare specimens including labeling and centrifugation.
• Safely handle potentially infectious materials in compliance with regulations.
• Troubleshoot discrepancies and ensure accurate testing orders.
• Provide mentoring to students and new staff.
