Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Phlebotomist Laboratory Assistant II to draw blood for diagnostic testing from patients of all ages and to process various clinical specimens for laboratory testing. Responsibilities include specimen collection, proper labeling, data entry into EMR/LIS, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment in accordance with SOPs and HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Phlebotomy training and experience in an outpatient or hospital setting.
• Prior experience with the Laboratory Information System (LIS) is required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and correctly collect blood specimens from patients across age groups according to SOP.
• Enter patient demographics, test orders and billing information into EMR/LIS systems.
• Perform proper specimen labeling and timely collection of scheduled samples.
• Maintain safety and infection control standards in the laboratory environment.
• Assist with instructions to patients and families and ensure professional communication.
• Support daily operations, including specimen transport and data entry into appropriate systems.
