Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our team in Massachusetts. The role performs venipuncture, capillary draws, EKG and point-of-care testing, with strict adherence to Medical Necessity guidelines and ABN processes.

Requirements include a high school diploma and completion of a phlebotomy program, plus basic life support certification within 3 months. The position is full-time, day shift, with a 40-hour schedule and eligibility for a signing bonus per interview.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; completion of a recognized phlebotomy program.
• Basic life support certification within 3 months of employment; annual competency maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy on patients using proper techniques.
• Reviews physician requisitions to ensure tests meet Medical Necessity guidelines and completes ABN forms as needed.
• Performs EKG, pulse oximetry and point-of-care testing and ensures instrument quality control.
• Processes specimens (centrifugation, labeling, and packaging) and assists with registration in hospital systems.
• May travel to other locations per department needs.
